Ruinart and Vik Muniz, for a shared vision of nature
Forever seeking to perpetuate the legacy of Dom Thierry Ruinart who, in 1674 when he was just 17, was made «maître d’art», each season the Maison Ruinart calls upon the creative powers of different artists to express the heritage, history and craftsmanship of the emblematic champagne. This year, following an art residency in Reims, Brazilian artist Vik Muniz presents his interpretation of Maison Ruinart and its ties with nature. After discovering the lengthy process and the time needed to create Ruinart champagne, his pictures evoke the close relationship between man and the vines in harsh climatic conditions. His use of organic elements such as blackened wood, charcoal and chardonnay vine leaves calls upon our interpretation of scale and how we perceive the elements.
BRAZILIAN ARTIST VIK MUNIZ OFFERS HIS REINTERPRETATION OF MAISON RUINART AND ITS CLOSE TIESWITH NATURE.
The artist has reproduced his concept on 30 signed and numbered wood boxes containing a jeroboam of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs. This creation that can be interpreted in many ways is the perfect reflection of the light, the aromatic freshness and elegance of this Ruinart champagne.
